JD 720 fluid leak

Halfhitch

So was raking hay late last summer with the 2 cylinder 720 and noticed a bad leak had developed in the seam between the differential housing and the rockshaft housing about 1/4 way up on left side. In haste as hay always is, just parked it to be tended to at a later date and hooked the rake to something else. This cavity in question should only house 90w gear oil at atmospheric pressure. So thats what should have been leaking out. Two other components protrude into this cavity, the pto drive housing (which I know is prone to leak out its 10w oil into the diff housing), and the snout of the load and debth control assembly of the rear hydraulic system.
As I have removed the rockshaft housing and found that a 4 section of the gasket was gone (bolt hole to bolt hole), cleaned the mating surfaces in preparation for the new gasket and reassembly (also went ahead and replaced the brass bushing and two back to back seals on the pto shaft housing while I was there). However thinking back, Im almost sure it was hydraulic fluid leaking out that hay raking day instead of gear oil. Dont want to put it all back together with a new gasket if the actual original problem still exists.
Is it possible for a leak to develop on that load and depth control snout as to pressurize that diff cavity with hydraulic fluid and casing a section of that gasket to blow out? And if so, what part of that snout is a common or possible leak point?
Thanks

It's not uncommon for the gasket between the axle housing and transmission housing to leak. You might want to put that one in too.
