JD 7700 combine

Found a JD 7700 turbo, later model. everything is in great shape except, per the trustworthy seller, a hydropropulsion belt broke and when it did it damaged the wiring into the electo clutch for the header. They have a better machine so dont want to repair and are selling. I am going to look at the machine saturday but was wondering if this is gonna be an expensive repair-- parts and/or labor such that its not worth it to try and salvage the machine as a usable combine and should keep looking. I don't know much about this type of combine but am hoping to get some general advice on the subject of this repair, availability of parts, and cost. Thanks.

If it just damaged the wiring it will cost next to nothing but some time to patch it up.

If the "brush" unit that transfers electrical power to the rotating shaft has been wrecked, add $80 to $100 for that.

Hardly any reason NOT to buy a combine that's in good condition otherwise.

The belt is not to bad to change and the wiring should be simple. You can always lock the header clutch solid in a pinch.

What is the smallest grain header you can get for this combine? How wide are the pickup headers?
I want to use it for wheat and oat grain and for beans if possible on a small scale

A month ago I had to purchase a new brush unit for my 4420. Price I paid at my local JD dealer was $170 and they had to order it.
