JD 9400 combine problem

The Dial a Matic on my son's combine will raise the header just fine when he first cranks it up.
Then it slows down to the point where it is a problem.
Goes down very slow also.
Any ideas on what the problem is?

Been along time but i remember using a jumper wire on the combine harness to see if it was head or combine issues. Wish i could remember more about them. I know i have repaced several switches on the head, also be sure the underside of head is not packed with mud causing it not to flex and move the switch.

I'm assuming a platform head like a 920??

Something to watch for is are there any other hydraulic functions being actuated when not commanded?? Example: raising the head opens or closes the deck plates (corn head). I've seen where there's a stuck valve in the hydraulic valve stack and when one solenoid operates a function a different function gets actuated also.
