JD 95 Diesel Hydro

248 to start with and 303 later on. Variations of those engines were used in tractors. For example the 248 was the 6 cylinder version of the engine used in the 2010.

Thanks. 95 diesel hydro coming up on a sale here, pretty tuff shape been sitting out for several years.I have only seen one other like it.

To be a hydro it would have the 303. The 303 became the 329 in the 4400-6600 combines as well as the engine for the 2840 and the 4030. My 95 was a gas and we replaced it with a 329 diesel. The 303 and the 329 had a bad habbit of getting antifreeze in the oil from sleeve cavitation if the anti freeze was not changed often enough. Tom

The hydro option came out in 1965. The 303 engine came out in 1967. So not all hydro 95s would have to be a 303 although most probably were as very few people bought the hydro at first I'm guessing. Also the very first 6600s had either 303 gas or the 329 diesel. 4400s didn't even have a diesel option the first few years but used the Chevy 292 gas engine instead as the only option. Your spot on the sleeve cavitation is dead on. I have a 1969 diesel 55 hydro that gets antifreeze in the oil when you let it set over the winter. I also have a 1967 95 that was overhauled at 1,600 hrs for the same reason.

I've never seen one. There were only a handful of hydro 105s sold around here. 55 hydros would have to be the rarest of the group. I've only seen one advertised and then the one we bought out of MN. Guess the hydro were too new, too fancy, and too expensive because a lot of the early 6600/7700s around here didn't have hydro's either.

Greenenvy, i know that cavitaion is those tiny pinholes in the sleeves, but isn't there a new product, they advertise it on Sams Garage, that would fix that, but i cant think of the name of it now!!!
