JD A HEAD STUD TORQUE

Replacing the head gasket on a 44 JD A. The manual calls for a torque of 125 ft lb. on the head studs nuts. But in a lower paragraph in the(I&T) manual it says (on all heat treated studs (dark colored) torque to 150 ft lb. for JD A tractors. Well all the studs look dark colored to me. So what torque spec should I use?

Heat treated studs came in at A628889-up. Therefore you should most likely use the lower value specification. For this spec and many other torque value specifications, go to the JD-H Restoration Site (URL below). Once there, scan across to "Articles 2", and from the drop-downs, select "Torque Values". (PatB)
