JD A piston rings

I broke one of my piston oil rings and got a different used one posting a picture of both, my broke one has holes in it and this new one doesn't what is your opinions about that and one other question the bevel on the new one faces the head of the engine right??

Does the new one have a dot on one side of it? If not then yes the taper goes toward the head.

what is the difference between the two rings and is one better then the other

the holes in your old one are for oil drain back. I would look for one to match the old one. Just my opinion.
