JD A pulley removal

I have a 52 A that I'm oh'ling. I've got everything off except the pulley. The IT manual says to remove the fork & bearing (which I did)and then pulley can be removed from the tractor (which I can't). I can slide it about 1" before it stops. What sort of clip am I missing and how do you access it? Thanks

The pulley bushing has probably worn in a depression into the crankshaft which will make it hard to just "pull" off. You may have to exert a little more force assuming you have all the parts off that need to be. I've had this poblem before.

you might want to remove the first reduction gear cover to let you see whtas going on. do a search on adding drain/fill plug for the frg cover.
