Does anyone make reproduction shutters for a 45 A? I'm having a hard time finding a good set with hardware. I can hardly get the tractor to warm up over 160F. I would like to get it up about 190-200 if possible. I did find an original set that looked pretty good, but the price seems pretty steep. Thanks

That is the problem...they all stayed full of chaff, etc and rusted, seized up and were discarded...

Try leaving the water level LOWER in the radiator, so it needs to RISE an inch or so, before it goes over, to the Radiator...should force it to run warmer...

I got shutters for my late styled b for the same reason as you want some . It's still hard to get it hot and up to temp unless your working them hard on a piece of equipment.

Patience! Watch eBay... I bought a NICE set on eBay a few years ago (I think I paid $100), but it didn't come with time nor ambition, so it sits in the barn next to all of the other parts I hope to install on my '49A some day!

Oh, I've been tring for about a year now. Found a nice set with all hardware for $800 on eBay. That's $200 less then I payed for the tractor when I bought it. I don't know I've heard that's the greatest thing I need to do to get it up to temp. so she runs good.

Absolutely correct. I have a late 50 A, and when I bought it the shutters were off but came with it. They are rusted tight, and I am slowly working them loose.

Running about an inch down on the antifreeze below the spillover works here in Vermont. When I plow snow with it (45 loader and snow bucket) I run it a few minutes before working it and it will get to 175 or so working it in deep snow. Otherwise it never heats up.By doing that it just about rises enough to overflow.

Shutters wont get it warm, I have them. Just install a 2.5" ball valve in lower hose it works awesome. It cost $150buckets by the time you buy a chunk of pipe & etc but you can manually choose exactly the temp it runs at. A manual thermostat. Fast warm up all the time.
