JD CLUTCH

ANYONE KNOW IF A JD 60 CLUTCH SETUP AND FIRST REDUCTION GEAR WILL FIT INTO AN UNSTYLED JD A. I AM USEING A 40 A CRANK AND CLUTCH DRIVER RIGHT NOW. I WOULD LIKE TO INCREASE THE NUMBER OF CLUTCH DISKS AND ALSO SLOW THE SPEED DOWN SO I CAN POSABLY USE 2ND INSTEAD OF FIRST. FIRST THE TRACTOR HAS LOTS OF POWER AND ALWAYS SPINS OUT. ANYONE KNOW IF THIS WILL WORK?

ha ha about the yelling sorry i am not a computer geek. i do not want to know about an interchange i want to "mod" it to the new type of clutch and slow down trans input speed by switching to the different reduction gears so i can use 2nd gear.

I'm not 100% sure if a 60 clutch/reduction gear is a direct interchange without any mods or not. A late A clutch and reduction gear will interchange, and has the same tooth counts as a 60. As far as wanting the extra clutch disks, you don't need them to hold the power as long as the clutch components are in good shape and adjusted correctly. I'm running over 100 hp thru a 2 disk clutch and have never had it slip. Mike

thanks for the info i will look for a late a setup. would i be able to use just the 2 reduction gears and just use my existing clutch pully?

Why hack up something with great time and expense that works so so? When there are parts that directly swap and bolt on.
620/630 have more gear reduction than a 60 due to a faster spinning engine with the same ground speed.
Given that the 60 has a creeper 1st and well spaced 2nd gear and 3rd gears.

hack up? if the gears fit on my trans shaft wich thay do - had them in my hand about 8 hrs ago and take a look at some info the late a and the 60 both have the same number of teeth wich both have a lower gear reduction than a unstyled a. i was just hopeing to get a awnser from someone that has actualy done this bofore not just some school leson on interchange and what tractor has what gear ratio. if i wanted to know about the 620 vs 60 ration i guss i would have asked about that. thanks anyway.
