JD Compact Tractors

Bought a new JD 4105 tractor and hate it, nothing but problems with it. Wondering if a JD 3033r or 3039r would be any better? Anyone own one of these that can speak from experience?

3033 and 3039 are pretty different tractors than the 4105 - different capabilities. What are you wanting or trying to do with the 4105 that makes you hate it? Doesn't do what you want? Reliability problems? What sort of problems? Buy it new? Who services it?

The hydro transmission was a huge mistake for minimal loader work. The transmission whines and clatters, the steering is hard to steer, the horizontal exhaust blows back in your face. No toolbox, no suspension seat, fuel gauge don't work correctly, ignition key falls out of the ignition. And I only put 2.5 hours on this new tractor....

iirc the 4105 was a stripped down 3000 series tractor ? http://www.tractordata.com/farm-tractors/005/8/5/5853-john-deere-4105.html

"No tool box, no suspension seat"

You bought a base model and want premium options for the same cheaper price. They will add those options if you ask for them on that model. It will cost you more money though. Doesn't matter what color it is for that kind of stuff all will cost more money.

With the exception of Kubota, I believe all these tractors that are made in China, South Korea, and India are all the same, no matter what color they're painted....

This is already costing me more money. The tractor is sitting in the JD shop now for three weeks, and so far they cannot figure out what is wrong with the steering & hydraulics....

Details, details, details or do you just want to pizz and moan ?

I really like the hydro transmission in my JD855 when doing loader work - mowing too!

I think the comment about the horizontal exhaust blowing back in your face kinda sets the stage for your ******** session.

Not in defense of Deere, but i own the baby 1026R. hydro works great for loader work. Just placed 36 tons of 2 inch clean stone around the edge of the pond. Bout the only ill effect is that I skinned up the bottom of the loader bucket.

My key has been sticking in the ignition for 4 years and i am assuming it is still there this am. You don't have one of those large silver set of bull kahonies hanging on your ignition key do you?

We have a model 3720 and just love it. Sure wished I would of had it years ago when we had a large dairy barn that needed every load of manure pitched on the spreader by hand. I can not find a thing wrong with it. It was made real narrow so that it can be used for clearing sidewalks and such so it is a bit tipsy with the cab on it but you can turn the rear wheels around to cure that.

If you check further, I think you'll find most of these compact utility tractors are assembled in the USA, usually Georgia, or in Japan.

The 4105 maybe a Japanese manufactured Yanmar built to spec for Deere , crated up and "assembled" in Agusta Georga .
Mother Deere and Yanmar have spent a lot of years cuddled up together .
