JD Cultivator??

Can anybody identify this 2 row JD cultivator please?
From 1960 to 1980, John Deere sold the RR2 cultivator, which looks suspiciously like the Ferguson/MF/Dearborn/Ford cultivators that were made for all those brands by Pittsburgh Forgings. It's possible Deere was rebranding it, too. However, according to the online parts books, the Deere version was never offered with the spring teeth, only with the rigid shanks. So this probably is a Ford or MF that somebody wanted to look like it was a JD product.

The frame and clamps do not look at all like Dearborn/ Ford. The shanks do look like the Dearborn style, but as mentioned they were used by several companies.

John Deere really didn’t use a 3pt until when, the 60s? And these kind of cultivators were more of a 40s and 50s type of thing, so I wonder if JD made any, or what time frame they would have? The cultivators were a 25-35 hp implement, by the 60s tractors were more 45-55 hp so the demand of the small cultivator dropped off?

I suppose it matters if you are going to JD only shows with it. If it’s to actually use, doesn’t really matter too much if it has been assembled from different companies over the years? As long as it gets the job done.

JD begin offering 3pt hitch in 1953 on utility tractors built in Dubuque factory & in 1956 on rowcrop tractors built in Waterloo factory. JD offered an add on hitch that was referred to as 3pt in 1953 for rowcrop tractors

I have discovered that the 4260 was the 2-row cultivator for the small 2-cylinders with category 1 3-point. The RR2 replaced it. Still only offered with the rigid shanks by Deere. It sticks in my mind that Montgomery Ward sold a cultivator that was made like a Pittsburgh but not quite the same. If this could be identified as such, it would be collectible in its own right.

What do the ends of the tool bars look like? Do they end square or are there loops on the ends connecting them togther. My brain jogged while stacking hay that a brand named Thrifty made their toolbars that way and clamped the shanks to them with u-bolts as seen in the picture. As everyone can see, I like a good "what really is it?" thread.

That does match up mighty close Mr. Cornpicker! From what we can see in the original picture as cut off as it is. Good job….
