JD even number models

Why are the 23/25/27/29 series so much more popular than the even number like the 24/26/28 series? are there any major differences between them?

The even numbers are followed by a 40 or maybe even a 30 such as the 2630. They are older than the odd numbers. The odd numers are 50 and 55 series tractors and are newer.

Along with being newer the 50& 55 series had some minor improvements in the hyd systems.

So the even series 24/26/28 were subseriesed into 30 an 40 models?
But the odd series 23/25/27 stayed with odd numbers like 50 and 55?

I guess that means ther were a couple of runs of both odds and evens.

I think it is strange that a 2550 or 2555 will bring lots more that a 2630 or 2640, same is true for 23s vs. 22s and 27s vs. 26s.

2550 built 83-86 65hp
2555 built 84-92 65hp I think Tractordata is incorrect on the yrs 2555 were built as I think they didn't overlap 50 & 55 series.
