Need help with a problem. I changed manifolds on my 1952 John Deere G, and when i removed the studs on the right side of the head , coolant came gushing out of the bolt holes. now after installing the new manifold, even after tightening the bolts down, i still have coolant seeping from the manifold stud holes. Quite a bit in fact. This is the first time i have had this happen on a two cylinder, are the holes tapped clear into the water jacket on a G? Its only the rear most hole that is seeping.

Yes they are all the way through on this engine. Just drain the water and remove one bolt at a time. Put the black permatex casket maker on the treads and reinstall the bolts. I have don this for most of my life as they will some times leak if you don't.

Original manifold studs have a fat thread on the end that screws into the head. If you use cap screws, you may have a problem trying to keep them sealed & if your manifold & the top of the cyl head isn't perfect, it may leak into the exhaust port & into the cyl on that side.
