JD M-30 snow plow

Does anybody know what year or years John Deere Made the M-30 Snow Plow and is there any difference in the plows between the years

I would guess it was made the same years as the M series itself. I bought a few MT72 plows to get a good plow for my MT a few years ago. I saw no differences in blades, frames, parts, etc. over the 4 plow/partial plows I bought.

Did you try checking out the JDParts website? The parts book may give you some clues of replaced parts or changes.

I don't think anyone will have a firm date.

I assume that the M30 was short lived as this was a mechanical lift (linkage). I can see with this setup a lot of the powerlift arms would break with a sudden impact from hitting something.
I want to think the M32 came out shortly after the M30 as this was a cable lift which provided a little more give if you hit something solid. At some point the M60 came out which was still a cable lift, but it was routed differently. I have broken a power lift arm twice from the result of hitting a frozen snow bank.

The switch from the mechanical lift to the cable lift could of been made because the cable lift is cheaper to manufacture, otherwise cost effective.

Oh..... that's what those parts were! One of the plows I bought had a great blade and a bunch of parts with it but they were all strange to me and didn't match the cable lift mechanism on a M32 or M60 plow (or MT72 either). I am guessing now those parts were bits and pieces from the M30 mechanical lift. I always thought the M series plows were all cable lift and have never seen a mechanical lift one.

I have an M-30 with the mechanical linkage. I don't see how it would break the linkage as the front attaches to the front axel and from there it's a two piece link that attaches to the drawrod to lift. I would think if it breaks the rear lift arm at the pivot point where it attaches to the rear of the tractor. you would have to really hit some thing really hard. but the plow moldboard is spring loaded and should buck forward so as not to break itself. As do modern plows.unless your driving way to fast. as this is a slow sport.................Or a real expensive one. Thanks guys If anybody needs pic of it give me a shout on Email John
