I just bought a model M and at 20 HP I assume it needs a 1 bottom plow but on youtube they are using a 2 bottom plow. I'm wondering what was the model number for a M at this time. I have located a 2 way plow but he has a person coming to look at it so it is probably sold. thanks

I think I remember JD made a plow with 2 10" bottoms but I can't find the model # was it a M2a

Depends on the ground. My M came with a M3A two-way plow and there was a M2 or M2A that went with it, but needed work, so I passed on it. In my ground I don’t believe two bottoms would be doable. I can handle the single bottom without weights in my garden, but elsewhere I’d probably need weights.

Keep in mind the M2/M2A plows could come with different size bottoms. There’s also the M1/M1A single bottom plows.

I have an MT-1-16 on my MT, and in heavy soil that 16" is all that tractor wants. In lighter soil, I imagine a 2-12 would work OK.
