My loader cylinder was leaking and I replaced the O-Rings on both ends and the leather cup. I can't figure out how to replace the wiper seal and small O ring on the
Rod end.
Do the cylinder heads come off the rod? Are the pins holding them in press fit? They look like roll pins but they are firmly in there.
Thanks for any advise

It is good the pins fit tight, you don't want them coming loose. You do have to remove them to get either (or both) the piston head or rod end off the rod.

X2 on the roll pin punch. You only need to remove the rod end to pull the gland off.

The wiper should tap or pry out, as you would remove any seal. Be careful not to mar the bore of the gland that the rod travels through.

Some of those roll pins don't fit as tight as I would like them to. I run a "safety" wire through them and around the rod end so they can't escape.

Here are some pics from when I did a couple of my 45 loader cylinders. One of my loaders had been on a 530 with just one hose going to each cylinder and it had breathers in the second hose fitting. I replaced the same o-rings and seals in both sets of cylinders and to this day I still do not like the way the loader that had the breathers in operates. Looking at the parts cat. the only difference I see is the loaders made to fit the new generation tractors. Hope the pics help in some way as it is so painful loading pics with my slooooow internet speed.

Dan do you still have the breathers in the loader you say ( you do not like the way it operates ? )
Don't you have models like B's and 70's ? and maybe a 50 ? if so these need to have hoses ran to both ends of the cylinders because the older tractors do not have enough hyd. oil capacity and they use the front of the cylinder for extra oil capacity.

Mike,

I took the breathers out and set them up with two hoses but I think the tractor (50) is the problem as it had been abused by the PO having four hydraulic connections two out the side and two out the back. That tractor (project) is on hold for now as I can only take so much aggravation not that I do not just go on to something else just as frustrating LOL.

Yes that hose set up may be an issue ? I found mine worked best when the hoses were hooked into the side and not into the back.

That rawhide cup is used in Simplex portapower cylinders. Why did you not change out when had piston off. Run less chance of cutting oring.
