JD Model 50 piston

Working on a JD model 50 tractor to replace the rockshaft piston o ring. Do I need to remove the whole housing? Or can I go through the power-trol valve housing (remove power-trol valve housing)? Can anyone give me some pointers on this.

Just did mine as part of a whole restore. From what I seen on mine you will have to take the whole housing off. It is a standard 335 o ring if I remember right and you can get them for about a nickel.

On a 60 you can just pull the power trol and rockshafts then use compressed air to force the piston out
