The crankshaft pulley on my M is loose and sloppy, all that holds it on is a pin thru the crank. Should I shim it or look for another pulley?

I would say hopefully it is the pulley and not the end of the crank. The hole the pin goes into in the crank could be egged out. I would start with a new pin and see how that does for you. If not look at the pulley and see if it might be bent and how the holes are. Worst case you could drill the hole in the crank to the next biggest size and get a bigger pin or use a bolt.
