That little video really doesn't help much as to how one would assess chain wear in each individual link, basically "stretching" of the chain.

On the other hand, roller chains are a "wear item" and not terribly expensive, and it would be reasonable to replace it with a new length of "Diamond" or other high-quality roller chain.

I think the side-to-side movement of the little chain tightener gear is just fine, that allow it to align itself with the chain.

Make sure to keep lube in the chan case and that tightener will outlast us all.
