I got a question about a john deere horse draw 999 corn planter. My question I was wondering how you would see or know if it uses trip wire? Thanks for your help

They all use Trip wire. but we dont use it at all, we have a planter like that and plant sweet corn and Green beans, just let the seeds to drop.

pull by a Farmall C or Garden tractor JD 317..

any Q's just let me know.

it would have had a reel and a take up mechasium or the wire along with rods that you placed on each end of the field. i've read through the methods used to set them up and i never did understand it at all. finding a roll of the wire would be rough. would make a heck of a demostration at any tractor show.

If it uses a drop chain to trip the planter, there would be a large take up spool on the front frame. You can;t miss it.
