JD R serial #

Hello,I recently sold a JD R it had a low serial # it took me a while to sell it everybody wanted a high number was there something the late models had over early models your expertise would be apreciated.

Others may have better answers. The earlier R's had a one piece exhaust/upper water pipe. Kind of hard to find one that isn't rotted out. Later on, they made this a two piece setup so you could replace the rotted exhaust without removing the water pipe. Hope I got that right. There may have been other issues. Don't know. HTH
