JD reduction gear swap

I've got a JD 60 that I'd like to speed up and an u/s A that I would like to slow down. Can I simply swap pulley and 1st reduction gear sets between the two? If so, can I swap the entire gear or do I need to switch the ring gears on the spiders? Thanks!
 
I wish it was that easy and I hope it is because I have a forty-one slant dash that has always been to fast in first and second . of coarse mine has a high low .
