JD20 spec HYD oil preferance?

Just wondering what you all have found to be your preferred brand choice for the JD-20 hyd oils.

JD oils have been vacant from any of my tractors for about 10 years. I cannot justify almost $100 per bucket for oil.

I have noticed that the Harvest King oils seem much less viscous than say the Napa brand oils. The price for Napa oil is also about $6-7 more per bucket.

Every year when oils go on sale I try and buy a year's worth, usually about 75 gallons or so. just depends on the year.

Harvest king is on sale at my local runnings for about $35 per bucket, but I really think the napa stuff is better for these older tractors.

Any opinions?

I buy hydraulic oil for my MF at local farm n home, but only if the label reads that it is equivalent to my MF specification. Then I rely on that label. If it is not specified like that, then it's only a guess.

Just be aware that not all brands of "equivalent" oil play well together. In fact, mixing some brands is a sure way to dissolve brake pads and/or clutch facings that run in oil. Saving a few dollars on "cheap" oil may not end up being so cost effective. Mike
