How hard is it to rebuild a steering valve on a 4020 d

I think they are fairly tricky. If I can get my pedestal out, I would consider shipping it down to TimS to rebuild. Wish the heck SpeeDee made it into Illinois. You can just tag them...no boxing needed.

One needs a special plate to bolt on the base for adjusting. Yes they are a little tricky to set. Putting valve back on tractor to find out it's set incorrectly is a "terrible feeling"

They are like a lot of things, once you get the hang of it they are not bad to do, and practice makes perfect, there are times when I do 3 a week here, and Like Jim stated it's a bad feeling to bolt one back in place and find out it don't work correctly, that is why I built this test bench,, it takes the guess out of doing the repair. When I test them I am actually hooking into a 4020 steer motor and pumping 2250psi closed center oil pressure through the system. I also have a very "nifty" holding fixture to hold the valves in the various positions as I re-seal them, this fixture has 2 air clutches that let me twist and rotate the valves as I need to.. If we can come up with a good method of shipping I will gladly re-do these valves..

With no complications a couple hours will do one,,complications would be finding the main shaft bad or an odd part that is worn badly,,I try to keep most of they normal stuff,, around $350 for the repair, and I don't mind having you watch as I go through one...
