Installing a new fuel pump this weekend. Seems pretty simple except for the timing, that still baffles me a bit. Tried to check it last weekend and never quite got the result I expected based on the tech manual. However, that was the old pump and since I'm pretty sure its screwed, that may be why it wasn't behaving as expected.
One question I have is the timing tool that the manual says you can make. I made one out of my old fuel lines (CH17556 ) that I'm replacing, but then reread the manual and noticed that it actually says to use a fuel line from a different John Deere tractor(CH18358). Would that make any difference? I'm wondering if the fuel like they specify has a larger i.d. or something. Just want to be sure I have the right tool for the job.
