John Christopher don't Pay!

Beware of selling anything to John Christopher, 8417 Martin Mill Pike, Knoxville TN 37920. I extended credit to him on books and parts; they were shipped to him on August 28, 2010 along with “invoice enclosed”. He has not paid, and will not answer his telephone, the telephone number he used to order the goods. I have twice written and left at least three phone voice messages – inviting him to call me to “work it out”. I’ve received nothing but silence. Lesson learned – again! Not Crying - just posting a warning! (PatB)

Hi - That's Me folks!

Lots of the folks I deal with claim they aren't "into computers", but you are so right; I am getting to the point where they either use PayPal or send money - and when I get paid, I release the goods. It just seems a pity to punish all for the sake of those one or two!
My wife says over & over that I am too trusting! Once again - she is proved right! 'Glad I have her!!! (PatB)

I have to be honest here that I was shocked last week when I was sent a part before I even knew what the final price was! Greatly appreciated it and promptly paid as soon as I knew the final price (3 days afterwards!). Not many folks around like that anymore but when you meet one it is nice. Don't let the scum bags get you down.

Hello Pat:

You have had this happen to you a couple of times at least now....I recall a earlier post about a fella from Bell Vernon or Bentleyville , PA...very close to where I grew up...

Something to consider: I know how you want to get your parts/manuals out quickly to buyers, but remember your restoration days....There are many different sub assemblies the restorer is working on simultaneously & waiting for received payment to obtain parts shipment will not "kill" the project in my eyes.

Remember the days of yes I have procured all the parts, but now I need to fully understand how it goes back together, the service manual is incomplete & oh yes where is that update Field Service Bulletin.....???

Just my thoughts,

Craig Weinstock

Hope you don't get too discouraged by this. I am constantly pleasantly surprised by the number of people in this business that do as you do and ship parts with an invoice enclosed. I have asked several how many times they've been stiffed and the answer was always "not many". It does make me want to go back to those people the next time I need something and to recommend them to friends.

Pat: I've been in business for over 30 years and have found that credit will create more problems than it solves. You also have the stiffs that you deal with....best not to let it out that way....

Well - that's as great question! It started off as a way to let folks know I have the radiator bolts sets; the very best I may add! I planned to use it only now and then. Then a short time later, when I ran into some password grief, Chris set Radiator Bolt Man as the default, leaving PBrowning in the system as well! I guess I should change it back - and until I do I generally enter my email (names me) or use some other means to let you all know who I am. I actually prefer to use this one. Be Blessed! (PatB)

Anyone using current events to try to "guess" when he will come is not reading all of "the book". No man shall know! That includes our favorite preachers, evangelist, and people. No one!
As for bad credit and all of the other stuff going on today, it has been going on for years. The differences today are that we have more people to do it and better instant news than ever before.
Many preople lived and died before us and never knew what happened more than 25 miles from their home.
Today, something can happen around the world and we know it in minutes.

My dad always warned me to be careful around anyone with a first name as their last name...not sure if it always applies, but it looks like it in this instance.
