Are JD71s all that and a bag of chips? Reason I ask is I have been wanting a set for sometime now but I don't want to spend all my money and be dissapppinted. Right now I am using a set of old Cole Duplex planters that were free to a good home, my uses are 2 acres of garden and planting dove fields ect.

I have a 2-row and they work great for me. I plant corn and cowpeas with mine. Simple to operate and easy to change plates. Lots of plates available,

Good planters.I plant 70 acres a year with those.Set
up as a 6 row(pull it with a Super M)You just have
to drive a bit slower than the more 'modern'
planters and be aware of the plates/graded seed. And
BTW,buy a book ASAP! I still use/refer to my book
every year........

Probably the most popular unit planter that was ever
made based on what you see for sale. Simple to
adjust, accurate depth control, and very versatile.
The demand for them has seemed to have pushed up the
prices in the last several years. I bought mine for
$75 per row (good shape, nice hoppers, Acra-Plant
runners) five or six years ago and now folks are
asking upwards of $500 per row on eBay. If you look
at the right places you can probably still find them
cheap.
