John Deer E110 Fuel Gauge not functioning

Just received a new E110 mower. The fuel tank sits loose in the housing and stops the floating gauge working properly. the supplier told me that this was an issue with the E110 model. very frustrating if this is true. Please advise what I can do to rectify the problem.
