I have a 1010 with pto problems. It has dual pto's and it spins when not engaged but will stop when implement goes to the ground. The shaft will also stop when you push the handle forward to engage the pto, at the same time grinding some. Any suggestions

Do you have the service manual? If not let me know and I will pdf the pages and email them to.

When you engage/disengage the PTO clutch do you hear a snap? This clutch sounds much like a 2-cylinder clutch when it is engaged and disengaged and it is designed much like a 2-cylinder clutch.

My guess is that you have the same problem that my 1010 had, there PTO clutch is gummed up with 50+ year old oil. I had to disassembly everything and clean it up. Once I did this it worked perfectly. And yes, you will have to split the tractor to access the clutch.

There is a cover on the left hand side of the torque tube, below the clutch peddle, remove this. Once open there will be a round plug very similar to a plug in a barrel. Once this is removed you can adjust the PTO clutch, but you will need the manual first!

No I do not have a service manual, and I would appreciate you sending what I need. When you engage it, it will grind sometimes. Also it worked last with the rototiller but when it shut down it make like a clunk sound

I think the housing that pto clutch is enclosed in will limit one seeing much if trans top cover is removed.

I have sent the manual via email.

There should be no grinding in the PTO when engaging becuase you are only engaging a clutch, NOT engauging any gears. The only place that I can think of a grinding noise is coming from is the splines on the clutch are worn out and slipping on the output shaft or the splins on the flywheel clutch are worn enough so the input shaft is slipping under load.
Either way, it sounds like your goign to have to split the tractor.
