Can anyone tell me the specs on John Deere 1018 rotary cutter? Specifically, the cutting capacity. Will it cut 2, 3 or 4 inch brush. I know 709 was rated for 4 inch, so Im m assuming theres a rating for the 1018.
Thanks

I sold new JD 709 rotary cutters back in the 70's-80's. I'm aware they were advertised to cut up to 4'' trees. I've never had the desire to attempt to cut 4'' tress with my 709.

Sorry but I don't know the answer to your question. The gearbox output(blade carrier) shaft is the same on some 709 & 1018 gearboxes.

I know my dad cleared an overgrown bottom once
with a 709, it cut a lot of 3 trees for sure and
probably a few bigger. But he didnt just drive over
them, just eased into them slowly. But that 709 took
it and never broke anything in gearbox or driveline.
If they have the same gear boxes in the 1018,
should be a hood mower. Thanks
