john deere # 11 sickle mower?

have a chance to buy a # 11 sickle mower, about how old and are the oldest model? hasn't been used in a long time but has been in shed. what are they worth? thanks

Pitman type mower that appears to be built at the end of the 2 cylinder era and beginning of New Generation era. To my knowledge the 11 mower is rare. There are guys here that collect vintage JD implements so if you pass on it maybe you could post the info here as to location so others may have a shot. As to value I don't know what to tell you. Maybe 350-500 dollars if in good to very good condition.

Looks like a trailer mower based on the #8 type mower,which makes it late 50's early 60's vintage. I have never seen one that I recall. In that time, 3ph equipment was most popular, so 8 and 8W were more common.

I think the 11 came out in 1961 along with the 21 and 31 conditioners. I had an 11 and used it some but sold it and bought a 10 side mount as I liked that better for trimming field edges. I also have a 37 trailer mower and a 38 semi mount.In my area it will bring $200-400 with $400 being in perfect condition. I bought my 37 a few years ago for $150 and there were two others at that sale that bought about the same. Tom
