John Deere 111

I used my tractor the other day, three days later I wanted to use it, when I choked it and turned the ignition on nothing at all happened. So, I checked the battery and it was OK, I then test lighted the ignition, and the power was always on even when the key was off. I then noticed that the key now turns 180 degrees in the ignition. I took the positive cable off of the battery so not to discharge the battery. So, what I wanted to know if anyone could tell me if the ignition is the culprit ? or maybe something else. Please remember that I had no prior problems before putting it away till the next use. It ran perfect with no noises or anything that would tell me that I had a problem arising. Thank you, Bill

Sound like the Ign. Sw. is toost. Replace the switch and hope an internal failure DID NOT put 12 volts on the Magneto kill wire which should NEVER have 12 volts on it. If this happened you will also need to replace the engine ignition coil which is most likely a MANETRON unit.
