John deere 200 header

On john deere 200 flex head how do you adjust the tip down of the knife? I put new skid plates and teflon on this head and it raised the knife cutting location. The besns seem to have poded low this year, do to the dry weather. I want to tip the knife down to get all the crop i can.Thank You in advance.LLOYD

Not sure on the JD but on IH you have to tip the whole head down.

This is done at the bottom end of the feeder house on an IH.

I assume the JD might be the same.

There are 1/2 diameter(3/4 wrench) bolts on the back side of the header. There is one on each parallel arm set. The bolts have jam nuts that clamp the parallel arm support. Loosen the jam nuts just a turn or so. The bolts are about four inches long and are threaded the whole length. They go into a solid round bar that is about two inch around. Work these back and forth to get them free. If you twist one off they are a real bear to get out of that solid bar.

You have to adjust these when you change tire size or combines. They all are just a little different.

These will adjust the cutter bar tilt. When flat on the ground your sickle guards should be lower in the front. These bolts also adjust the sickle bar level across the header.

CAUTION!!! After you adjust these bolts you have to adjust the tension spring that balances the belt tension on the sickle drive gear case. The header operator book shows you how to do this. If you don't do this the header will drag. If this is way out of adjustment it will make the guard tilt be way off as well.
