John Deere 2010 Problems

I was looking at a John deere 2010 but I am somewhat apprehensive. I was told by a mechanic never to buy a 2010 because they are no good. Are there a lot of problems with the 2010? please advise.

2010 was/is commonly referred to as the worse tractor JD ever built. Old saying when I was employed at JD dealership when 2010's were relatively new was "'One can't break a good 2010 & can't repair a bad 2010"!! 2010 with diesel engines were the most prone for problems.

My understanding is the diesel blocks cracked easy. I was at a salvage yard where I saw three of those so that’s probably true. I own a 2010 gas and it is a good running 45 hp tractor. I rebuilt the carburetor to improve the response but that did nothing better. The hydraulic has a fine screen filter rather than typical element type. And my gas tank leaks at the thread-o-let, which I haven’t attempted to fix yet. Their reputation isn’t good compared to the engineering of the 3020 but they beat the international tractors of that era hands down, which I also own. I use mine on the sprayer, pull hay wagons and occasional 5’ Bush hog. I have run a 9’ haybine and pulled a 3 bottom plow but it was maxed out. My kids all grew up running it since shifting is easy to understand and it has power steering.
