If I want to replace my front stock tires on my JD2020 1960s tractor with truck tires what size would any one suggest? Has any one else done this and did it work OK. My stock tires just don't grip when turning. Any help would be great.

The rib tires will give better turning grip than truck tires.

Truck tires are used for easier steering with a heavy front load, like a loader.

Possibly some front weight would help, practice using the individual rear brakes for turning.

Thanks for the advice, I will try the brake idea, never thought of that. Also forgot to mention it has a loader on it.

The truck tires might take the weight better than rib tires depending on the plies but in mud you will have the wheels plowing straight ahead with the slightest turns of the steering wheel instead of getting a grip to turn the tractor. Like Steve said the individual brakes are there to help you turn if you need them.

As posted by others truck tires will carry the load better and triple rib will turn better. Do you have triple rib now and how worn are they? Is your turning problem all the time? What are you doing when it bothers? Pushing the bucket on the ground?

Yes the three ribs are worn and most of the issue is when moving round bales on soft ground. I did not really want to buy new tires and I have lots of old truck tires. I was just unsure of the size that would work best.

Yes every time I get on the loader tractor after my son the brakes are locked together. He is uste to front wheel assist. I just naturally ride whatever brake is on inside of turn.
