john deere 212 dies

I have jd 212 that will run for 30 min the just die like I shut the key off. And after the crank stops it will start right back up and go for about 15 to 20 min. And do the same thing again. I have changed the coil so fa, I don't want to keep towing money at it and not get it fixed. Any ideas?

Vent in the gas cap plugged? Good fuel flow when it dies? (pull the hose off and see how much fuel is flowing). Junk in your gas tank that swishs around until it covers up the discharge? JD 212 what engine? Electronic or regular ignition? Has ethanol containing gasoline started to dissolve things like fuel hoses and needle valve tips? Has an intake gasket gotten bad and when she warms up she starts sucking air?

Mine would do that at one time....the exhaust valve would stick open and lose compression. After it cooled down the valve would free up and close. It was suggested at that time to put Automatic transmission fluid in the gas to clean up the valve, but I ended up pulling it down and polishing the valve and guide

I don't have a smoking gun for you, but your 212 has a fuel
pump and points that are a bit tricky to change.
What I would do is isolate the problem to either spark or fuel.
Right when it dies, plug a spark checker into the spark plug wire.
Do you have good spark? If not you can check for voltage at the
coil and work you're way back to the problem.
If you do, check to see if you have fuel in the carb bowl, etc.

When it dies, does it suddenly go something like blap blap blap
indicating exh valve sticking open?
If yes, pull the tin and clean out, especially around the
exhaust valve area.
