John Deere 227 LP. Is this engine used in any other JD application other than the original 3020?

That engine block was only used in 3020 tractor application. It appears from viewing 3010/3020 parts catalog that there were several variations of that 4 cylinder block designed for LPG/gasoline fuel. What's is your engine block casting #?

R33190R is the casting #. Serial # says that it is a 65 model tractor. Is there another bolt up engine to this tractor? 4 or 6 cyl? Single application lends to the fact that another engine might be harder to find?

You could consider installing a 300 series engine such as 202,219 or 239 cid gasoline engine BUT that requires a flywheel housing for Dubuque factory engines. Yrs ago JD offered a kit to install ""similar diesel powered engines"" in 3010/3020's. JD 404 or 466 cid will bolt up BUT hood, hyd lines, wiring harness & side frames need to be lengthened
