John Deere 25 Combine Value

I have an opportunity to purchase a John Deere 25 pull type combine. The combine is PTO drive good shape, paint is origional but good, new tires. The combine is in working order last used to harvest soybeans aprox 10 years ago, has always been shedded. Could someone please suggest a fair price for such a machine? Thank You Bill

Don't know what a fair price is but I bought mine for 50 bucks at a sale and it works great. Paint was faded but always shedded just can't go very fast with it but does a great job on oats.

I bought a good #30 18 years ago at an auction for $50, my niehbor has one a bit better he paid $500 for it..They are few of them left, that are in running shape, and re-placeing a few belts can cost $300 , not to mention other little items that add up, I just fiddle with mine, and they take up a lot of shed space, but I love to hear my 60 run it, can't put a price on that...The #25 with the canvas would be extra cost,,I'm not sure you can even buy a canvas for them any more..

I know that this is an old thread but I actually just found a AH13964 21488H feeder canvas for the JD 25 in a pole barn in Southern Minnesota. It's still in pretty good condition so it was a really cool find, in my opinion

A pair of canvasses for my Allis 60 cost almost $1000, got to look around Amish country. They make them for binders.

I bought a #30 at an auction for a friend that could not stay until the combine came up for auction for $275. It was in excelent condition and also came with a NOS canvas. My friend gave me $100 for my trouble.

Canvas and belt will be expensive. If you plan to use, not more than $100.00.

I was under the impression that JD model 30 combine had an auger in platform not a canvas. I know JD model 25 combine had platform canvas because my families farm had a model 25 combine

Not sure what the # was, been close to twenty years since then. Although I did take a picture. Don’t know if it’s worth spending the time to find it as I’ve not had much luck loading pictures lately. I found the pic and the auction was in March of 2012, sure seems like more that 15 years ago. This farmer and his brother were still farming with two cylinder tractors and had many with added hydraulic functions like PS. They had a souped up G that had hydraulics driven off the fly wheel they used to pull a six row planter.

I remember thinking at the time that I would never see anything like this again and I have not.

Found it, guess it was a 25. Noticed it does not have a canvas in the photo but auctioneer said they had a NOS canvas at the house. I now remember going to the house and asking about it and the farmers wife pointed to the open garage ceiling. The canvas had been stored there for safe keeping and I told her I had purchased the combine for a friend and told her he would be coming to get the canvas.

Well I now have found several more canvases in decent shape but I have yet to figure out what they go to. I guess I'm just kind of wondering if there is still a market for the original canvases?

Prices are all over the map on these. Two of them were at the Expo (when they were doing Expos) in Waterloo, IA about 11-12 years ago. Do not know if they were in working condition. They brought $20.00 for the pair. Looked like they had been stored indoors. As I remember the canvas needed replacing on both of them. They were PTO powered.
