John Deere 2640 hydraulics

I have a John Deere 2640 with a single hydraulic hookup and because it has a loader there is another set of hydraulic couplers to run the loader through a joystick. I have a piece of equipment with two sets of hydraulics. Can I disconnect the hoses that tilt the bucket and hook up the hoses for the equipment.

Thanks

Are you saying you have one set of remote couplers run by one SCV and the loader valve gets its oil from another set of couplers not connected to the rear remote couplers? Or is the loader valve supplied by the rear remote couplers?

I think you are saying the first is how you are hooked up. Look into a multiplier valve to install in your rear remote couplers. You can have two circuits controlled by a switch and the one SCV you have now, while leaving your loader plumbing untouched. I attached a link of one I use on my tractor when I need two circuits. I didn't see them but may be available through this site or PartsASAP. Several sources have them.

Remote circuit multiplier valve

Yes, you could use the loader bucket cylinder circuit to operate another function.

Being closed circuit hydraulics on a 2640 you could Tee into the supply and return points for your loader and add a single spool valve to control a second set of rear remote couplers

So a endgate for the bale and a pickup raise and lower? I’d drop the pickup when you get to the field set the wheels and switch to the gate by hand

Although we don’t use them since the usual tractor has 4 valves the Vermeer has a manual valve in 2 of the 4 hoses to allow you to do this and relieve pressure

A 2640 would be light for this unless it’s a small round baler is this a backup plan? Trying to finish cornstalk bales maybe?

Even our backup 4440 would be considered a bit light but doable

I’d stay out of wet spots up here it’s been never ending rain got a hard frost finally was going to sneak out early with the P&k spreader

What you asked utilizing bucket hyd control circuit can be utilized to control a hyd function on a baler.

Another option JD engineers utilized back in the 1970's was a manual operated hyd splitter valve manually controlled by pulling a rope. Fasse also makes an electric controlled splitter valve.

I think a JD 2640 will handle a rd baler on virtually level soil just fine. When AC clutch failed on my JD 4255 I pulled my JD 467 rd baler making 4X5.5 rd bales just fine with my Kubota M7040(64 pto hp) on level soil.

I baled for a couple years with our 2030 and 435. Even made some 4x6 bales and not a lot of the ground was flat. Admittedly the MF 1105 we use now has an easier time with it. 2640 should be fine for a backup. JMHO

Why is the loader supply/return micky moused into the SCV ?
The loader joystick is supposed to supplied from a T between the priority valve and the SCV .
The loader is supposed to return oil to a ported transmission filter cover .
Once you correct the loader supply/return .#1 the SCV will be available for the loader. #2 the loader will operate so much better . That you will want to find the slob that originally connected the loader . Then call that person a long list of bad names . Telling them how dull witted they are .

2030 has a 3.6L(219 cid) engine @ 68 HP while 2640 has 4.5L(276 cid) @ 77 HP so 2640 should handle a rd baler much easier.

Hopefully the OP comes back with better info on the plumbing of the tractor. I think he described his loader valve plumbed into a tee ahead of the SCV, but his description could go either way. The return might be going to the filter, he needs to tell us.
