Hey Everyone
Thanks for listening, I have a 2640 john deere, the pto shifter will slip out of gear every now and then, so I just pull it back in gear or in the on position, sometimes I have to hold it on for a while, but it is a pain when using the haybine. Question is ,is this a major fix ( take it to the shop) :( or something I can do myself

That lever is a collar shift lever, it slips a drive collar over a spline on the shaft, over the years it gets "Raked" into gear, and after enough time it dubbs the gears on the edge to where the are wedged, or slanted and will force to neutral on a pull, I think you can repair it by splitting at the shifter area and lifting the rock shaft.
