John deere 2755

I've got a 3020 diesel that I pull a 650 nh Baler with but it works it hard and was thinking about upgrading. A man is selling a 2755 with cab with 3300 hours for 15k. Everything works good. Would that handle that Baler good and is it a good tractor at that price. Thanks

I'm thinking the 2755 is not much more (if any) of a tractor over the 3020. If the 3020 is struggling doing what you are doing, look for something bigger than a 2755.

If the tractor is in good shape and everything works and the tires are good, then it is a good buy and should do your job very well. Some of the 2755's are dynoing over 90hp. We had a 2555 with over 90hp. It was a very good utility tractor.

At best you would only be gaining 10 hp on an early 3020 & 5 hp on a late model. 2755 could have 16 speeds vs 8 speeds on 3020 but 2755 has cab/ac now your'e about even on hp because AC's require 5-7 hp.

I think you need to find a higher hp tractor.

I'm looking for a good 4020 but are hard
to find a good one. Would a 6310 be a
better choice. Powerquad trans with
loader and canopy for 16,500. Really
like that tractor.

Our 2755 will pass our early 3020 but if your spending that much money, the cab will be great but it won't pull the baler much faster.

We have had a 2755 with a 246 loader since new and its been absolutely trouble free other than 1 clutch in 8000 hrs. As for horsepower its always been strong when it was new it was at 98hp and I checked it last year with just shy of 8000hrs and its still at 87.Needless to say its been about the most trouble free and handy tractor we have ever had. I have driven 4020's and wouldn't take one as a gift.

Any way you could try on the 2755? Rent/lease it for a day?

Just a thought.

98 hp is a big increase for a tractor that was advertised when new at 75 hp.

You are right Jim and we would have never believed it until they took us to the shop and actually showed us before they delivered it. And since then it has done a couple things that 75hp would never do.

Please don't take offense since it really doesn't matter one way or the other BUT do you know some older dynometers could be coerced in showing incorrect HP readings???

You are right Jim but it was new at the dealer and they always seem to have the latest equipment to work with. As for the 50 horse transmission it used to pull 4-16's in heavy clay for years and 16 feet of disc and knock on wood no problems but she is semi retired now doing just planting, spraying and haying.

I did not mention 50 HP trans. Here's the Nebraska test test of the 2755. JD has sent tractors off assembly line with higher than advertised HP but 30% increase is more than I've ever heard of.

I mentioned the 50 hp transmission, it's the same as a 2020...and I'm glad your getting along so good with it,, I know many who are not...as I have said before when they are good they are great,,,,when they go bad they are very bad...
