John Deere #30 Kicker Oil

What oil mdo I use in a JD #30 kicker? Regular universal hydraulic oil? Also, do I fill it up to the fill bolt on back side? Thanks.

The Operator's manual says type 303, but that is the old discontinued spec. The current fluid that replaces JD303, is JD Hy Gard, or a UTHF meeting the John Deere J20C spec.

I sincerely doubt that there's anything special in that kicker that would require any Deere-specific additives. Most likely any oil of the right viscosity would work.

BTW, since they "banned" the sale of that line flush they called 303, it's back on the market, now known as "Vintage Tractor Fluid."

Universal hyd fluid should be fine, and with the kicker level ,fill to the bolt hole on back of the tank. You can look in and see the fill bolt hole from the top if you remove the plate on top to fill /check the oil level.
