Hey guys I've found a nice 330 a older couple has. They may want to part with it.What would be a price that is fair? The tractor has cultivators and three point. The draw bar assembly is missing. Sheet metal is decent no visible weld or cracks other than a brace welded to draft arms. I was thinking 7 to 9k. What do you think. Serial plate is visible but has been painted over it.

You are stealing it from them. If they know what is worth and they price it fine but if they do not know then what???

Keeping in mind this is an unrestored 330 I would say you are fair on your price. The restoration cost typically more than the purchase price and with that said the market for them has gotten softer than a few years ago. Still a good piece though.

I have purchased a few of these 330 JDs over the years and have not regretted the price on any of them.
first one I bought was fifteen years ago and it has tripled in price.
I guess you have to decide if you want it or not and how many more years do you want to try to find one.
You have to remember if you make an offer and they decide to ASK AROUND or advertise it for a little more chances are you are going to kiss it good bye.
There are LOTS of collectors that do not have this model and WANT one in their collection.
As for the restoration dont let anyone fool you on that. As long as the engine block, clutch housing and transmission case is not cracked everything else is available. and if you can afford the tractor you can afford a few new parts here and there to restore it.
I would suggest asking them, what they think would be fair on the tractor for a price, and when they ask you back you throw a figure of 10k at them and go from there. Tell them maybe Im a little to high? They either know what its worth or not. Dont leave till you have bought it and its on paper with s.n. wrote down. once you pay for it go get the dang trailer and get it home. Good luck and happy fishing. Hope the big one dont get away on ya. P.S Let us all know how you made out and maybe some pix. It would be a nice christmas present for both parties.

I didn't see any cracks are welds. Im not sure about casting numbers to know if it has been pieced together at some point. I do remember final drive casting started with the letter M. I have a slant steer 420s to compare to and much of the tractor looked the same. I have also found a slant steer 320 loaded with all equipment but owner wasn't ready for sale. Two really good finds. Thanks for the help guys.

what are you waiting for? buy it. we have two 320's slant and reg. and a 330 I know where there is another 330 and when he is ready to sell I am ready to buy.$ 10,000. isn't bad.
