John Deere 4039 engine

Looking at possibly buying a used Sullair air compressor with a blown JD 4039 (rod thru block). Did JD use the 4039 engine in any tractors or other equipment that I may be able to look for to try and find a used bottom end to fix this Sullair machine? This is a non turbo engine. Also referred to as a 4.039 engine. Guessing late 80's machine.

Yes, used in lots and lots of other Deere machines. Use the JD part site, look up part numbers for the parts you need, then use a "where used" search to find what machines used the identical parts.

I have a good block and three rods and a crank that might clean up if ground .010. Good usable sleeves and pistons in block and cam. Call me if interested. three one9 3eight nine six1three1 DW

Any JD 4 cyl engine of the 300 series engines(202,219,239,276 cid or 4045 should bolt up and work.

Common as dirt and durable as long as they have clean air, clean oil , fresh coolant and nobody hammers them with ether .
