john deere 4040 tractor

I am looking to buy a 4040 and I found one at 4300 hrs and owner says you have to plug it in at 40 degrees is there something wrong with the engine or is this normal for a tractor like that.

Ours was a super hard starter also, but we changed the battery cable and battery setup and that has helped alot. You might be able to adjust the timing also to improve the starting. I would not be afraid of buying it.

We have a 4040 for sale. It is a early ser no. Has a naturally aspired 404.It will start down to about 35 deg. It is a hard looker. But underneath is solid. 8000 and some hrs. Never been overhauled. Quad range trans. Hyd seat, and cold air. 18.4 X 34 matching tires and wide front. Located in South East Illinois. 12000. 618 838 2225 Vic
