I am trying to buy a john deere 430 from a guy around the corner from me. It doesnt run but comes with a running engine and new rear rims. It has a 3pt that is complete. The sheet metal is near perfect. On the serial tag it reads 430 S. Can anyone tell me some info on this tractor. And what it might be worth? Thanks in advance

This is a one row tractor mainly used in the tobacco growing states .I own two of these 430 standards now.one is for sale for 3500.00,the other is still used for use in the burley tobacco, and garden cultivation, spraying and other misc. uses. They made several different verisions of the 430,which included the following: 430-S / T / W / H / V / U/ C / and a few 430 Holt Forklifts ( 52 ) i think. I was the proud owner of one of these for a while.I think they only made about 1800 of the 430-S.They all differ in prices because of condition, how bad the seller wants to get rid of it,and how bad the buyer wants it. Just my opinion,a 430-S should be between 2500.00 to 10,000.00. The info. provided above is just my thoughts on the 430's as a whole. I had one of the first complete collections of the 30 series that was around about 20 years ago.I sold them to a gentleman in Ohio for around 40,000.00. I think today they are going for around 100,000 plus. Hope this info. will be useful to you. Alvin
