John Deere 440B Skidder

Anyone have a picture of the drivers compartment? I just inherited a JD440B Skidder and have no idea what some of the controls do. There is a large lever on the left side of the console (Just in front of the clutch pedal)... any idea what it does? It seems like it engages something, but I'm having a hard time figuring it out.

Also, unit is for sale... best offer takes it. RUNS LIKE A TOP... has small hydraulic leak (Trying to locate and fix it now) Let me know if interested.

I worked on many when we sold them new. I still have an old 440. Can't say I can picture in my mind where every control is on the dash for a 440B is, though.

Sounds like the lever you are referring to is the engine-clutch disconnect lever.

That sounds right... can you tell me what it does... I mean obviously it engages/dis-engages that engine and clutch.. but when do you use it? how do you use it?

I don't recall anyone ever using it. But, it was there to help in starting the engine in extreme cold weather. It is assumed the log skidders "sleep in the woods" and don't have electriciy nearby to plug in block heaters. So, they need all the help they can get. Deere also had disconnects on the hydraulic pumps on the older 350 and 450 crawlers, with the same idea in mind.
