John Deere 494 planter

Anyone know where I could get my hands on a set of plates for a 494 4 row planter for planting popcorn ? I guess I'd even take two for now if their around anywhere. Any direction would be great. Thanks.

Do a search on ebay. You can ususlly buy old JD plates in real good condition for about $5 each, sometimes less. Your manual should give you a ll the plate sizes. Your seed supplier should be able to get the seed in different sizes.

a couple years ago i was given a 494 in working order i moved inside 2 rows into 30" & cut off outside 2 rows (i call it my 292m) use it to plant sweetcorn & a wildlife plot of sunflowers & milo. have extra plates. set each of H697B-16 extra small corn,H694B-16 small corn these are cast iron & i have 4 of each. have more both cast & plastic in 16 & 24 cell if you know what # you need. cant beat the price. FREE!
