John Deere 50 Carb. choke spring

I am building my Dltx 75 carb. I am having trouble putting in the spring on the choke shaft where it is hooked to the choke arm. can anyone explain whick way the spring hooks onto the shaft and how it fits in the cup of the arm.

Theres is only 1 way it will wind and work, and the cup and retainer and bolt with spring and washer must go on last independently.

there are two ends of the spring. one end is curled and one end is straight. i assume the curled end goes around the shaft. now where does the flat end go. when i took it apart the spring had tension on the cap but i dont know how it was inside

The straight end seats against the inside notch of the lever.
