My tractor was jumping out of 3rd gear, haven't had time to tear apart yet, yesterday I was driving it around field looking at fence line and when it came out of gear this time it also would not let me bring it back to the right side of shift quadrant. After a little working it around it finally moved around freely. What would cause this to not let me come back to right side of gear quadrant? I could also put it in the left side gears and it would not move.

Sounds like the C clip that holds the shifter in place has rusted away, letting the shifter raise up, and come out of the shifter slots. Or the ball at the end of the shifter has broken off, or is well worn.
